What is Mad'Eole?

Mad'Eole - Wind in Madagascar - is the electrification of villages on the basis of locally produced wind power and other renewable energies.

From a program of 15 villages in the far north of Madagascar the villages Sahasifotra, Ambolobozokely, Ambolobozobe and Ivovona were put first into operation. 5,000 people have regular electricity for the first time.

Four more villages form the second stage.

In the electrified villages, new houses were built, small business initiated and the cohesion of the village community greatly improved because Mad'Eole makes the price of electricity for all villagers affordable while ensuring the maintenance and the subsequent replacement of the equipment.

Electricity makes development possible because the villagers themselves are strongly engaged.

Gehört zu Gemeinde Andrafiabe, 54 km östlich Diego-Suarez. 800 Menschen, 174 Häuser, 150 Strom-Abonnenten. Fischer, Landwirtschaft, Tourismus (1 kleine Bungalow-Anlage "Lîle des Baobabs" ausserhalb des dorfes).

Dank Elektrizität: Bau und Betrieb von Kühlanlage, Förderung des Tourismus, Verbesserung des Kleingewerbes (Holzbearbeitung für Bootsbau, Restaurants, Epicerien, Disco).


Ambolobozokely, commune rurale d'Andrafiabe, 54 km à l'est de Diego-Suarez. 800 habitants, 174 maisons, 150 abonnées.Pèche, agricutlure, tourisme (petit hotel bugnalow "L'île des baobas", à l'exterieur du village).

Gràce à l'électricité: chambre froide pour la pèche, renforcement de l'artisanat local comme charpente naval, restaurants, epiceries, disco.

Ambolobozokely is part of the municipaltiy of Andrafiabe, 54 km out of Diego-Suarez. 800 inhabitants, 174 houses, 150 contractees. Fishing, agriculture, tourism. Small bungalow lodge "L^île des babobas" out of the village (1 km).

Membership in the "Friends of Mad'Eole Switzerland", which provides for the financing of projects in Madagascar, costs 100 Swiss francs per year.

With 100 francs a house can be supplied with power: house connection from the village network, security, electricity meter, installed in your house, sockets, switches, lamp holders, energy saving lamps.

There are mainly women and children who benefit from it the most: reading and writing after sunset, light for food preparation in the early morning and evening, better hygiene and safety (no oil lamps or candles needed anymore).
